A more than beautiful Riesling from Weingut Dönnhoff, which with its 9 Grosse Layers is counted among the absolute top in the region. The riesling grapes for the Tonschiefer mainly come from the Leistenberg plus first selections of the local crus. The 2020 Riesling Tonschiefer opens pure and stony with citrus notes on the earthy nose that wonderfully captures the clayey slate terroir of the Tonschiefer. Complex and juicy on the palate and very intense and structured, dry Riesling has a fine phenolic grip and an expressive finish with salty and spicy acids. An impressive wine with only 12% alcohol and a drinking window until 2050+.
