ALTA LANGA ROS‰ PAS DOS‰ 'FOR ENGLAND' CONTRATTO 2019 DESCRIPTION_x000D_ _x000D_ _x000D_ The Alta Langa Ros For England€ by Contratto is a fresh and elegant Metodo Classico Pas Dos, which recalls on the label the English predilection of the early twentieth century for dry sparkling wines. It is made in the hilly area of southern Piedmont, which rises towards the first mountain ranges, with pure Pinot Noir grapes. Thanks to a cool, always ventilated microclimate and calcareous-clayey marl soils with the presence of sand and marine fossils, the Burgundian vine produces perfect grapes for sparkling wine. Like all ros, it has a good aromatic richness, characterised above all by refined citrus aromas, small red berries, accompanied by clear mineral sensations._x000D_ _x000D_ The Metodo Classico Ros “For England” is produced by one of the Italian sparkling wine houses with the richest history. The Contratto winery was founded in 1867 and in 1919 it was already producing the first Italian Metodo Classico Pas Dos Millesimato sparkling wine with Moscato Bianco grapes. It followed the fashion of the time, dictated by the preference of English consumers for dry sparkling wines, which was also changing the face of Champagne. Today the Classic Method is produced under the Alta Langa denomination, thanks to the acquisition of about forty hectares near Bossolasco, in the Langhe area that extends towards the first mountainous reliefs on the border with Liguria. It is a Classic Method that encapsulates the ancient tradition of the winery, with one of the Italian sparkling wine denominations with the greatest growth in quality and consensus among the most attentive and evolved consumers._x000D_ _x000D_ The Ros “For England” by Contratto is a Classic Method Pas Dos produced with the best grapes from a historic vineyard of about 40 years, cultivated at over 700 meters above sea level, with a sunny exposure facing south, south-east. The grapes are softly pressed at low temperatures, with brief contact with the skins. At the end of the vinification, the vins clairs rest for a few months before the creation of the blend. The second fermentation takes place in the bottle according to the Classic Method, with a rest sur lattes for at least 48 months. In the glass it presents a pale pink color with light and bright copper reflections. The perlage is fine and delicate. The bouquet is characterized by aromas of pink grapefruit, citrus, pomegranate, raspberry, red currant and fresh almond. The sip is of great finesse, with a very delicate and subtle fruit. The finish is of lively citrus freshness, crossed by a savory and mineral vein.
