- MONTEPULCIANO D'ABRUZZO 'ANFORA' CIRELLI 2021 DESCRIPTION
- Francesco Cirelli's Montepulciano Anfora is an original and multifaceted testimony to one of the most suitable Italian red grapes ever. An elixir without filters or manipulations, which "limits" itself to reading the territory and the vintage, accompanied by Francesco's expert hand in winemaking: this is the credo always followed by the Cirelli family, owners of a few hectares in Atri, in the province of Teramo, and convinced supporters of an approach as non
- interventionist as possible. The native varieties proliferate without the use of chemical or synthetic substances, while in the winemaking phase we use spontaneous fermentations and the use of amphorae, neither enameled nor vitrified. Iridescent liquids, capable of exciting for their direct expressiveness but at the same time of great elegance.
- The red Montepulciano D'Abruzzo Anfora comes from pure grapes of the homonymous vine grown in the Teramo area, partly deriving from vineyards owned and partly rented. The winemaking involves the usual procedures followed by Francesco. Therefore, after a rigorous manual selection, the grapes are taken to the cellar for destemming. The alcoholic fermentation of the must takes place in terracotta amphorae, using a previously prepared pied de cuve and started by indigenous yeasts. The maceration on the skins lasts about 12 days, and after the malolactic fermentation carried out in the amphora, the liquid ages in the same container for about 12 months.
- The Francesco Cirelli Montepulciano D'Abruzzo bathes the glass with its thick ruby robe. The nose, territorial and varietal to the core, unravels hints of blackberry, leather, earth and chocolate. A picture of dark tones, genuine, but at the same time extremely harmonious. The tasting does not betray expectations, and gives a liquid where matter and tannin intertwine millimetrically. Rich, but at the same time extremely juicy, it has the ability to embrace everyday cooking, by virtue of its welcoming and sincere nature. A true photograph of terroir, not to be missed.
