RD stands for recently disgorged (or rather ‘recemment degorge' in French) and Bollinger have trademarked the term. It basically means the wine has undergone longer aging on lees than the regular Grande Annee and there will be slight variations between different disgorgements. The 2008 Bollinger RD is a blend of 71% Pinot Noir and 29% Chardonnay, with 18 Crus mostly, Aÿ and Verzenay for Pinot Noir and Le Mesnil
Oger and Cramant for Chardonnay. With only 3g/l dosage, it is one of the driest RDs we have tried.
