The 2018 is a classic Bordeaux blend, as Ornellaia always has been, with Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot taking the lion's share of the grape variety and Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot adding complexity. Cabernet Franc is increasingly recognized as one of the most successful grape varieties for Bolgheri and the quantity in the blend of all the great wines of the region seems to be increasing. Bolgheri may be one of the best sites in the world for this often overlooked strain.
