- NEBBIOLO CASCINA ROCCALINI 2022 DESCRIPTION
- The Nebbiolo by Cascina Roccalini is an elegant, fresh and pleasantly fruity version of this great Piedmontese wine. It is precisely in the hilly area of the Langhe that the Nebbiolo grape variety manages to express itself at extraordinary levels, giving refined reds that are very pleasant to drink. Thanks to a delicate vinification, carried out exclusively in concrete, the wine manages to retain its typical varietal face, with a particular lightness and expressive finesse. Its floral profile and fragrant sip make it particularly versatile in pairings at the table, and very suitable to accompany the typical dishes of the local cuisine.
- The Nebbiolo wine of Cascina Roccalini is born in the hilly area to the south
- west of the village of Barbaresco, towards the banks of the Tanaro river. It is a recent reality, born in 2004, when Paolo Veglio began the adventure as an independent producer, after the family had supplied the grapes to the famous producer Bruno Giacosa for many years. It is a small artisan winery, which produces wines in the wake of the great tradition of the territory, trying to best interpret the characteristics of the area. The suitable Eocene marl of the Langhe and a cool and breezy climate constitute the natural habitat for Nebbiolo, a true emblematic vine of the area. No chemicals are used in the vineyard and obsessive attention is paid to the quality of the grapes, an essential prerequisite for making great wines. The choice to use concrete tanks, or in some cases oak barrels, for refinement confirms the desire to preserve the characteristics of Nebbiolo without weighing it down too much with notes of wood.
- Nebbiolo Roccalini is the most typical and representative wine of the Langhe area. Less structured and powerful than Barolo and Barbaresco, it interprets Nebbiolo with a light touch, enhancing its refined elegance. Fermentation takes place in concrete tanks using only indigenous yeasts and with maceration on the skins for about two months. After a rest period in concrete of 8 months, the wine is bottled without clarification or filtration. In the glass it has a bright ruby red color with light garnet reflections. On the nose it is delicate, with floral scents, aromas of small red berries, light spicy nuances and balsamic hints. The sip is elegant, with a thin and juicy fruit, which extends towards a fresh and slightly savory finish.
