- L'Elixir di Liquirizia, made by Essenza Mediterranea, is a Calabrian liqueur with very intense aromas and a rich and persuasive taste. It is produced in the Altomonte area, in the province of Cosenza, with a plant that is very widespread in the wild flora. Liquorice is a shrub typical of the eastern area of the Mediterranean basin and Asia, always known for the aromas of its root. This ancient plant met in Altomonte the culture of herbal elixirs, heritage of monks who arrived from Greece and Sicily since the 11th century. Thus was born a tradition that continues to give exceptional liqueurs.
- The Liquorice Elixir liqueur was born within the walls of a Calabrian producer, who decided to give voice to the excellence of his land, through a range of labels made with an artisan spirit and process. Essenza Mediterranea has been able to stand out in the panorama of traditional liqueurs, precisely thanks to these characteristics of strong identity and recognisability. The preparation begins with the selection of the raw material, consisting of the roots of the licorice plant. Once the washing and cleaning phase is completed, the wood is cut and processed, which in the final phase involves a slow and long infusion in alcohol, in order to concentrate all the perfumes and aromas. At this point the liqueur rests for a short period and is bottled for sale.
- The Liquorice Elixir produced by Essenza Mediterranea is a black nectar of extraordinary expressive purity, which gives the inebriating sensation of walking between the blue of the sea and the warm sun, on a path dotted with the presence of wild shrubs of the Mediterranean scrub. It is a true sensory journey into the most authentic heart of Calabria. To the eye it appears dark ebony and almost impenetrable. The bouquet is dominated by the intense and soft scent of licorice, enriched by fresh balsamic nuances, hints of medicinal herbs and helichrysum. The sip is dense and velvety, with a deep and enveloping aroma of licorice. The closure is harmonious and very persistent.
