The history of Beauregard goes back to the 12th century and the Knights Hospitallers of Saint John of Jerusalem, to whom we owe the famous Templar Cross, emblem of Beauregard. Active in the Pomerol region and owners of a small manor house, they were already cultivating these lands. Five centuries later, the Beauregard family built a first building on this site, which was replaced in the Napoleonic era by the present Ch¢teau: a magnificent Gironde-style charterhouse, which opens onto a terrace with two dovecotes overlooking a moat and a beautiful park, the work of a pupil of Victor Louis, the architect of the Grand Th¢tre de Bordeaux.This residence was a model for the Guggenheim family, who had a copy built in Port Washington on the Long Island peninsula and named it "Mille-Fleurs". In the middle of the 18th century, Beauregard switched from mixed farming to wine growing.
