- ETNA ROSSO 'LE SABBIE DELL'ETNA' FIRRIATO 2021 DESCRIPTION
- Etna Rosso "Le Sabbie dell'Etna" by Firriato is an interesting expression of volcanic wine, produced by one of the most important and historic Sicilian wineries on the slopes of Etna, in the municipality of Castiglione di Sicilia. Obtained mainly from the native vine par excellence of this area of eastern Sicily, Nerello Mascalese, it is a versatile bottle, with an intense and mineral flavour, like the sands on which the vineyards of origin are planted. A label that contains the flavours of the largest active volcano in Europe.
- This Etna Rosso by Firriato comes from vineyards of Nerello Mascalese and
- in small percentages
- of Nerello Capppuccio, planted on sandy volcanic soils on the northern slope of Etna at about 700 metres above sea level. The high altitude and the strong temperature variations between night and day allow the grapes to concentrate and best preserve all the aromatic substances typical of this vine. The grapes are hand
- picked between the second and third half of October, and processed according to the traditional red winemaking method, in stainless steel tanks. It is then aged for 12 months in Slavonian oak barrels.
- "Le Sabbie dell'Etna" Rosso has an intense and brilliant red color with light purple reflections. On the nose, elegant notes of berries, blueberries, cherries and plum jam are found. A delicately spicy finish, with aromas of violet and licorice and a light iodine note. In the mouth, a great balance of flavor, harmonious, enlivened by the presence of soft tannins and a finely mineral finish and a long persistence. A clear and crisp interpretation of the exclusive Etna terroir, to accompany traditional dishes, such as red meats and wild vegetables.
