The 50th release of Yalumba's iconic Signature, named in honour of Yalumba's Packaging & Development Manager, Chris Gerhardy. With 51 years of service at Yalumba, Chris has a legacy that is indescribable. The Cabernet components come from three special premium vineyards in the Barossa, while the Shiraz comes from vineyards of varying age dating back to 1925. Twelve years ago, I used to draw quality/value comparisons with another legendary Aussie Cabernet Shiraz blend, then similarly priced. In that time the Signature price has remained constant, yet the quality has exponentially risen. That other legendary Cabernet Shiraz has since increased 150% in price. The Signature is the pinnacle of Cellar Red wine value in Australia. This 2021 is beautifully composed & powerful… a remarkable Signature! It can be enjoyed now but is capable of cellaring gracefully past 2045, if kept in proper cellar conditions.
