When this stylishly packaged Isabel Estate Brut Cuvee Methode Traditionnelle was offered to us for the Festive Season, we couldn't wait to try it. We know how beautiful and world class their Old
Vine estate Chardonnays are (this Methode is 60% Chardonnay with 40% Pinot Noir) and after reading the detailed winemaking notes, it was clear it would be complex, fine and Champagne like in style. This elegant Brut Cuvee has been carefully crafted in the traditional method of making Champagne, from specially selected parcels of Isabel Estate Single Vineyard Chardonnay (60%) and Pinot Noir (40%) fruit… hand
picked in the cool of early morning, from vineyards composed of calcium
rich clay & limestone soils. It was gently pressed, and then fermented predominantly in stainless steel tanks with a small proportion in 500L puncheons and amphora. The base wines undergo full malolactic fermentation softening acidity and enhancing texture. The tank, puncheon & amphora components are then blended and bottled for secondary fermentation spending 24 months on lees in the bottle, developing seductive Champagne like complexities and finessing the bubbles. A classic Champagne styled production so small & quality focused… it should sell for a lot more. Close your eyes, from the aromas through to the gorgeous palate, you could believe you're drinking fine Champagne.
Smells
Rich aromas of citrus and white peach complimented by subtle yeasty, toasty notes of brioche and Anzac biscuit.
