A blend of the two major sub-regions of Hawke's Bay, the Bridge Pa Triangle and the Gimblett Gravels, the classic blend of Merlot and Malbec make for likely bedfellows in this great 2016 release. Very rich and rounded with lots of dark fruit and spice, the tannic structure is ripe but unyielding, following the Coopers Creek trend to extract lots of tannin into their wines. This Merlot/Malbec can easily be cellared through 2020 and enjoyed for the next 5 to 8 years.
