The story goes that Panettone was invented in Milan during the reign of Ludovico di Moro. During a banquet, the pastry chef burned his cake. He had to find a backup solution very quickly and called on his apprentice, Toni, who had prepared sweet breads for the cooks' table. The distinguished guests present looked with surprise at the bread that was served to them. They tasted it and wondered: "But what is this delicious bread?" They received an answer: "Toni's bread". "We must find a name for this delicacy ... El pan de Toni, we will call it Panettone!"
