This gift pack contains the Spier Merlot Signature and the Spier Chardonnay Signature. The wines come from Stellenbosch in South Africa.The Spier Merlot Signature has a deep ruby red color. In the fragrance, there is some sweet fruit, cherries and berries, wood, vanilla, toast, figs, licorice, caramel, and a hint of smokiness. Nicely fresh in the taste, warm and sultry with not so many tannins. There is a pleasant firmness in the aftertaste.
The grapes for the Spier Chardonnay Signature come from 12-year-old vines. The grapes are fermented at a low temperature, which perfectly expresses the fruity elements such as citrus and peach. Two months on sur-lie, the Spier Chardonnay gives that delicious butter that makes the Chardonnay so distinctive and attractive.
