One of the stars in the field of white Godello wines and the red Mencia from the Valdeorras is the winery Val De Sil, which focuses strongly on the Galician grape Godello and Mencia. The bodega has its vineyards in the Sil valley with its unique slate soils which make the wines of this house unique. Pezas da Portela is a tribute to Portela, origin of Godello. It is a village wine produced exclusively from the 11 historic pezas (plots) located on the slate slopes of the village of Portela, in the municipality of VilamartÃn de Valdeorras. These 11 pezas were planted in the first half of the 20th century by the sons of Mr. Jose Ramón Gayoso, continuing their father's legacy as a world pioneer in the cultivation and production of Godello wines
