Fronsac is located in the eastern part of Bordeaux, on the “right bank†of the Gironde. The area is less known than the neighboring Pomerol, but the wines are certainly of great class. In this area lies the Château Villars, a family business, for many generations. The domain works from tradition, but does not shy away from changes if this benefits the quality of the wines. Since 1991, Thierry Gaudrie, a trained oenologist, has been responsible for the estate and the vinification process. The wines of Villars are made in the "classic" Bordeaux way and have received good appreciation for this for years in the serious wine press, from Wine Spectator to Decanter and Robert Parker.
