Palmer & Co Champagne first came across the Fine Wine Deliver Co tasting table in the middle of last year. We tasted their NV Brut and everyone was 100% impressed, not only with the quality but the value for money was outstanding. Now we are tasting their 2015 Grands Terroirs cuvee, a blend of 50% Chardonnay 38% Pinot Noir 12% Meunier. Grands Terroirs cuvees are embedded in the foundations of Palmer & Co and draw their roots from the iconic crus of the Montagne de Reims, both Premier and Grand Crus vineyards. From an exceptional year, 2015 with its simultaneous combination of high temperatures and very little rainfall, early in the season gave concentrated fruit and the second half of August with cool nights allowed the grapes to ripen perfectly with delightful acidity levels.
Smells
The nose, subtle and charming, opens with notes of orange blossom and acacia, mixed with notes of yellow fruits, evolving into lovely and delicately spiced aromas of fried pineapple and tonka bean.
