Description
The Fleurie 'Bel
Air' Domaine de la Grosse Pierre is a Beaujolais red wine made from Gamay, sourced from vines around 60 years old. Juicy and perfumed, the nose expresses notes of pomegranate, cherry, herbs and delicate hints of sweet spices and cocoa on the finish, while the palate offers a full and enveloping, energetic sip with a long and persistent finish. A magnificent expression of Fleurie's terroir, to be paired with red meat dishes or with charcuterie and cheese boards!
FLEURIE 'BEL
AIR' DOMAINE DE LA GROSSE PIERRE 2022 DESCRIPTION
The Fleurie 'Bel
Air' of the Domaine de la Grosse Pierre is configured as a red wine with a vibrant crispness and exceptional dynamism. For too long, the consideration of the Beaujolais terroir, of which Fleurie represents one of the 10 crus, has been limited to Beaujolais Nouveau, a popular wine easy
read novel, far from the character and complexity that the wines of the area can achieve. In more recent times the trend has changed and today Beaujolais has returned to the fore thanks to far
sighted producers who have been able to enhance the great potential of the crus, among which Fleurie represents one of the most important.
€˜Bel
Air Fleurie Domaine de la Grosse Pierre is a pure Gamay expression from 60 year old vines grown according to the principles of organic farming within the Bel
Air estate, exposed to full east. The vineyard, just half a hectare in size, is located at an altitude of 320 meters above sea level and benefits from the abundance of pink granite in the soil. The harvest is done by hand and the bunches are then vinified whole through spontaneous alcoholic fermentation at a controlled temperature and 12 days of semi
carbonic maceration, during which daily pumping over is carried out. Once the malolactic fermentation has also occurred spontaneously, the mass is placed in aged in concrete tanks for 11 months and is finally bottled without undergoing any filtration or clarification.
To the eye, the Domaine de la Grosse Pierre 'Bel
Air' Fleurie reveals a pure ruby red colour. Fruity hints of pomegranate and cherry describe the olfactory panorama together with sensations of aromatic herbs and spicy hints of cocoa. The taste is deep and enveloping, with a juicy, energetic and finely tannic progression that rests on a persistent finish.
