- MUNJEBEL ROSSO 'CR' FRANK CORNELISSEN 2020 DESCRIPTION
- Munjebel "CR" is one of Frank Cornellissen's single
- vineyard crus, a true Nerello squeeze in Etna land, a combination of power and juiciness. Few other names are as respected and well
- known as Frank in the world of artisanal wine, a true Belgian histrion who in 2001 decided to start his vine and life project on Etna, recovering old Nerello vines and other local grapes. A clear and clean approach that of Frank, who in addition to practicing a viticulture totally respectful of the environment without the use of any chemical substance, continues convinced in the cellar with spontaneous fermentations and the use of sulfur reduced to a minimum. Portraits of a terroir, every year changing interpreters, and for this reason so beautiful and expressive.
- The Munjebel "CR" comes from a part of a single vineyard of Nerello Mascalese called "Costa Re" and located at about 735 meters above sea level near Randazzo. A single
- vineyard wine, therefore, which highlights the particular ability of these grapes to give life to deep, austere and more tannic liquids, almost comparable to the Nebbiolos of the South. The vines are over 70 years old, and the harvest can only be done manually to respect the few fruits produced, while the fermentation occurs spontaneously and the must is left to macerate on the skins for about 2 months. The refinement of the liquid takes place in tanks of 1500
- 2500 liters of neutral resin.
- The Rosso "CR" reveals itself in the glass with a light ruby red color, almost transparent. The nose is immediately multifaceted but rarefied, it gives very fine hints that must be captured with great patience. It whispers, it does not scream, but then it gradually offers in succession the cherry, the violet, and the dog rose, all accompanied by incessant mineral puffs. A truly outstanding sip, as it has undeniable power but expresses it with an unparalleled grace and juiciness, also thanks to the cohesive contribution of salt and freshness. A great wine, outside the box, but with an almost regal bearing that ennobles it. A farmer in a tailcoat!
