Located in the Speyside region, the Glenlivet distillery is one of the country's historic realities, officially founded by George Smith in 1824, the year in which the producer obtained the first license. However, the origins of Glenlivet whiskies are earlier, when illegal whisky production was still popular. It is said that in 1822 King George IV, visiting Edinburgh, asked to taste the Glenlivet, then distilled illegally, a paradox that however bears witness to the surreal climate of the time with regard to the controversial legislation on Scotch whisky.
- The Glenlivet Whisky Single Malt 12 Year Glass Pack contains two tumblers paired with a bottle of Single Malt Scotch Whisky 12 Year from the Glenlivet distillery. This distillate fully represents the Glenlivet style and is produced from a selection of Scottish barley malt. The water used, coming from the Josie's Well stream, is particularly rich in minerals and contributes to the development of aromas already in the mashing and fermentation phases. Large copper stills are used for distillation while the subsequent ageing period lasts for at least 12 years and takes place initially in traditional European oak barrels and then in American oak barrels, capable of giving softness and pleasant vanilla aromas to the whisky.
