LANGHE ROSSO 'BACCANERA' LO ZOCCOLAIO 2021 (PACKAGE) DESCRIPTION
- Baccanera€ from the Lo Zoccolaio winery is an intense, rich and structured red wine, which represents a synthesis between two great wine terroirs: the Langhe and Bordeaux. It is a blend composed of Barbera, Merlot, Nebbiolo to which a small percentage of Cabernet Sauvignon is added. The French inspiration is also found in the choice of a long refinement in barrique and not in the classic large oak barrels typical of the Piedmontese tradition. The result is a complex and harmonious wine, concentrated and rich, particularly suitable for important pairings with roast red meats or game.
- The red “Baccanera” Lo Zoccolaio is born in a winery that has been able to stand out with a range of quality wines, capable of authentically expressing the best characteristics of the territory. The vineyards have an average age of about 30 years and are cultivated in the Barolo area, at an altitude of 300 meters above sea level, with a south
- east exposure. The cool and breezy climate and the prized calcareous
- clayey marls are very suitable, not only for Nebbiolo, but more generally for all red grape varieties. The harvest takes place in the second half of September and after destemming, separate fermentations are carried out for each grape variety, in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature, with maceration on the skins for a period of a couple of weeks. The wine is then assembled and aged for 18 months in French oak barriques.
- The Langhe “Baccanera” Lo Zoccolaio has a typically territorial face, which focuses above all on the particular soil and climate of the Langhe. Unlike the custom of the area, it is not a single variety, but an assembly of grapes with complementary characteristics, which manage to create a perfect balance of taste. It has a dark red color with purple reflections. The olfactory profile is rich and intense, with aromas of wild blackberry, ripe cherry, blackcurrant, red
- fleshed plum, notes of soft oriental spices, hints of noble woods and a spicy touch of black pepper. The sip is harmonious, with a rich and soft fruit, which extends towards a fresh finish and good persistence.
