Paying the utmost attention to every element involved in production, today the sixth generation of the Krug family continues to give memories and emotions to those who choose them, thanks to noble and sophisticated bottles studied down to the smallest detail._x000D_ _x000D_ The "Clos du Mesnil" is born from vines coming from a single plot of land in the heart of Mesnil-sur-Oger, a charming village very important for the production of Chardonnay in the Champagne region. The vineyards are surrounded by walls (clos in French, precisely), which have been protecting the plants since 1698, keeping them healthy and long-lived. After the harvest, Krug chooses to use only small oak barrels with an average age of twenty-five years for the first fermentation, so that the wood, already mature, does not contribute any organoleptic characteristic of fermenting wine. The second fermentation in the bottle follows according to the Champenoise Method, where the wine rests for at least 12 years on the lees.
