- CHENAS 'EN CHAMPAGNE' DOMAINE HADRIEN HOUBERT 2021 DESCRIPTION
- The Chenas 'En Champagne' from Domaine Hadrien Houbert represents an expression of the fine Chenas cru to be appreciated for its fascinating aromas of sweet spices and berries. Chenas is the smallest appellation in the whole of Beaujolais in terms of vineyard area and takes its name from the village of the same name, which in turn takes its name from the oak forest, or chªnes€ , that once covered the area. The lieu
- dit €˜En Champagne is located on the south
- eastern slope of the Chenas cru, with soils that are divided between the decomposed granite matrix on the top of the hill and alluvial soils in the lower part.
- Domaine Hadrien Houbert Chenas €˜En Champagne comes from pure Gamay grapes grown following the principles of organic farming, integrated with biodynamic practices. The vines then benefit from the matrix of decomposed pink granite that characterizes the soil, as well as the altitude of about 250 meters above sea level. Once harvested, the bunches are vinified in red through spontaneous alcoholic fermentation and semi
- carbonic maceration in stainless steel tanks. Once the fermentation process is complete, the wine is left to age in French oak barrels for about a year, during which it increases its complexity. The final bottling follows without prior filtration.
- The Chenas Domaine Hadrien Houbert 'En Champagne' is a light ruby red in color. The olfactory panorama is described by persuasive hints of pomegranate, wild strawberries and violet that meet spicy nuances of vanilla and cinnamon donated by the passage in oak. The tasting, very juicy and fragrant, reveals an integrated tannic texture that guides the good fruity and spicy persistence, consistent with the sensations perceived by the nose.
