Veuve Clicquot was founded in 1772 and today owns one of the most prestigious estates, which covers a total of 390 hectares, divided between Montagne de Reims, Valle de La Marne, C´te des Blancs and C´te des Bars. The property is divided into 280,000 parcels, 96 percent of which are classified as Grand Cru or Premier Cru. The vineyards are planted 47% with Chardonnay, 36% with Pinot Noir and 17% with Meunier. The cuve comes from a selection of grapes from 50-60 plots, with a predominance of Pinot Noir, which gives structure and expressive depth, complemented by Chardonnay and Meunier. At the end of the first fermentation, a percentage of 30-45% of reserve wines are added to the wines of the vintage, giving the blend maturity and complexity.
