- ETNA ROSSO TORNATORE 2021 DESCRIPTION
- The Etna Rosso from the Tornatore winery is a juicy everyday wine, a true synthesis of purity and minerality given by the indissoluble bond between Nerello and the Sicilian volcanic soil. Nerello Mascalese, also known as the Nebbiolo of the South to indicate its finesse and propensity for aging, is a true interpreter of the territory in the Etna vineyard area, and is often complemented by a balance of Nerello Cappuccio, which gives it a little more body, as in this case. The Tornatore family has a long tradition, and from 1865 to the present day they have been able to create convincing interpretations of one of the Italian vines with the greatest potential ever, always maintaining a praiseworthy balance between modernity and attention to their winemaking roots.
- Tornatore's Etna Rosso wine comes from the union of the two native vines par excellence of the Etna area, namely Nerello Cappuccio and Nerello Mascalese. The grapes come entirely from the northern slope located in the municipality of Castiglione di Sicilia, and after manual harvesting they are subjected to careful selection. After destemming and light pressing, maceration takes place in cement tanks for about 10
- 12 days. Once fermentation is complete, the grapes remain to macerate for a few more days, and, following racking, they refine for a year in large wooden barrels and three months in the bottle.
- Etna Rosso presents itself in the glass with a bright ruby color, immediately fascinating. A nose of great richness, but declined in an extremely gradual and whispered way. Small red fruits, mineral lashes, citrus peel alternate continuously outlining a profile of pulsating territoriality. The volcanic soil also speaks during the tasting, endowed with a soft and seductive tactility, but enlivened by a sapidity that can only offer the union between Nerello and its favorite area. A small pearl to be elected as an everyday wine. Indispensable.
