- BAS ARMAGNAC MILLESIM‰ DARTIGALONGUE 2006 DESCRIPTION
- The Bas Armagnac Millesimato is an elegant and refined label, which represents a prestigious version of this historic French distillate, which Dartigalongue has been producing since the beginning of the 19th century. The minimum refinement of the vintages is 15 years, but even after many decades, they retain their qualities unchanged. They are produced only in the most favorable years and with a selection of the best grapes of Ugni Blanc, Baco and Folle Blanche, the three typical vines of the region. The high
- quality base wines, a careful distillation process and a long aging in barrels give life to Armagnac with a unique and inimitable taste. It is a label reserved for great connoisseurs, who appreciate the expressive nuances of the vintage.
- The Millesimato is the pure and authentic fruit of a single great vintage, capable of expressing harmony, intensity and aromatic richness. It is the result of the great experience of Dartigalongue, which has been producing Armagnac since 1838. The estate is based in Nogaro, in the Bas Armagnac area where some of the most prestigious crus are located. The soils characterized by the presence of sand and silt are ideal for giving the base wines subtle profiles and great finesse. The distillation process takes place with a continuous still at low temperature, which allows to preserve elegant perfumes and aromas. At the end of the distillation process, the Armagnac begins to age. In a first phase the distillate rests in dry barriques to soften its youthful impetuosity, then in humid barriques, which help to smooth the profile of the Armagnac making it more persuasive.
- Bas Armagnac Millesimato is the maximum expression of the experience and artisanal savoir
- faire of Dartigalongue in producing labels of excellence. A collector's bottle to be tasted among enthusiasts. At the end of the distillation of the best base wines of the vintage, the distillate is aged in 400
- liter Gascon oak barrels, specially made by local cooperages. In the glass it has a rather dark amber color. On the nose it expresses soft aromas of honey, ripe fruit, citrus peel, caramel, dried fruit and vanilla. The sip is intense, broad and complex, with a dense and persistent center of the mouth, which closes on delicate spicy notes.
