  • AMARO CAMATTI DESCRIPTION
  • Amaro Camatti represents the product that more than any other has made the Distilleria Sangallo Cinque Terre famous, a bitter that immediately strikes for its balanced and expressive character. This is an ancient Genoese liqueur whose original recipe was created way back in 1924 by the Livorno chemist Umberto Briganti, who developed the liqueur together with his brother Cesare in the Ligurian town of Recco, naming it in honor of his beloved wife, whose surname was in fact Camatti.
  • The preparation of Amaro Camatti begins with the selection of flowers, herbs and aromatic roots, ingredients that are infused according to a secret recipe guarded for generations and based on artisanal procedures. Among these, almond, gentian, cinchona, bitter orange and mint stand out. The maceration process is studied and adapted based on the characteristics of each botanical and the infusion is then left to decant in stainless steel barrels or drums. This is followed by the filtration process aimed at eliminating any impurities. At this point, a syrup of water and sugar is added and the bitter is finally ready for bottling and subsequent marketing.
  • At first sight, Amaro Camatti expresses a bright amber color. The aromatic range opens with intense bitter hints of quinine and gentian, soon joined by sweet hints of amaretto and fresh scents of orange peel. In the mouth it is rich and dynamic at the same time, in balance between the softness of the body and the characteristic bitter sensations that accompany the persistent finish. A bitter to be enjoyed as a digestive after
