The story goes that the panettone was invented in Milan during the reign of Ludovico di Moro. During a banquet, the pastry chef had his cake burnt. He quickly had to find a solution and called in his apprentice, Toni, who had prepared sweet breads for the cooks' table. The distinguished guests present were surprised to see the bread served to them. They tasted it and asked themselves: "But what is this delicious bread? "The answer came: "Toni's bread". "We have to find a name for this delicacy ... El pan de Toni, we will call it panettone ! ».
