With more than 30 generations and 700 years behind them, the Frescobaldi family are one of the great winemaking families of Tuscany. This historic Riserva Chianti is produced at Castello Nipozzano, 35km northeast of Florence. It is a symbol of Tuscany’s wine making traditions due to its strong ties to its terroir. Sangiovese with small percentages of Malvasia Nera, Colorino, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon adding considerable fruit complexities. Matured for 24 months... mainly in a mix of large vats with some barriques... the remainder in tank to give the wine freshness to go with its generous and complex body.
