The Mercurey appellation is mainly known for its red wines. For Chardonnay, ChïA¿A½teau de Santenay favours the marly areas that are richest in limestone. The white wines benefit from ideal conditions in both the vineyard and the winery. After moderate pneumatic pressing of the grapes and vinification, the wines are matured on the lees. This cautious approach results in excellent quality white wines, recognizable for their characteristic full-bodied richness.
