Colonies of honeybees are carefully moved to macadamia nut orchards in the Hamakua and Puna districts of the Big Island. During the peak winter blooming season, these honeybees pollinate the beautiful white flowers of the macadamia nut trees. The result of this pollination is an amber-colored honey that features a distinct aroma and a slightly nutty flavor.
