CABERNET FRANC 'PAIN PERDU' CLAIRE AND FLORENT BEJON 2023 DESCRIPTION
- Claire and Florent Bejon 'Pain Perdu' Cabernet Franc is an artisanal and genuine expression, an authentic manifestation of the terroir and the characteristics of this black grape variety. It is the latest label launched by Claire and Florent, winemakers located in the municipality of Saint
- Germain
- Vienne, in the heart of the Loire wine region. The Domaine specializes in the cultivation and processing of Cabernet Franc, a grape that occupies almost the entire vineyard area available to the couple.
- 'Pain Perdu' Claire et Florent Bejon Cabernet Franc comes from 40
- year
- old vines of the same variety located in the municipality of Beaumont en Vron, on the opposite side of the Loire River to the winery. Here, the plants are grown according to the dictates of organic farming on calcareous soils, with a high presence of sand on the surface. Once fully ripe, the bunches are harvested by hand and vinified whole, with spontaneous alcoholic fermentation and approximately 3 weeks of maceration on the skins. The wine is then transferred partly into used oak barrels and partly into sandstone amphorae for maturation for a few months. The mass is finally bottled without undergoing any clarification or filtration and without any addition of sulfur.
- In the glass, the Cabernet Franc della Loire 'Pain Perdu' from Domaine Claire et Florent Bejon expresses a ruby red color. The olfactory baggage is crisp, described by sensations of small red fruit supported by vegetal and spicy hints. On the palate it is soft and juicy, with a lovely freshness and velvety tannins. With its pure and authentic personality, the 'Pain Perdu' is able to bring the aromas and flavors of the Loire into the glass.
