CHATEAU TROUPIAN
HAUT
MEDOC
The Haut
MeÌdoc enjoys an ancient reputation, perhaps better established than that of the MeÌdoc proper. ChaÌ‚teau Troupian is a part of the Lestage Simon estate, situated in the commune of Saint
Seurin
Cadourne. The vineyard, rooted in clay
limestone soil, is dominated by the Merlot grape, producing a very feminine, slightly wooded wine. The Haut
MeÌdoc enjoys an ancient reputation, perhaps better established than that of the MeÌdoc proper. This stems from its location
closer to Bordeaux, its viticultural potential was recognised from the eighteenth century onwards, a quality its landholders and entrepreneurs were quick to harness. This region extends across a stretch of around 60 kilometres in the left bank of the Garonne and the Gironde rivers, to the north of Bordeaux. The wines of the Haut
MeÌdoc AOC are characterised by their vivacity and their brilliance. Harmonious and well
balanced, generous but not to excess, with time they develop a nose of remarkable excellence.
Their provenance also lends these wines a rich colouring and a full body. Nonetheless, they retain their distinctive MeÌdoc characteristics, marking them out as wines of distinction, appreciated as such throughout the world
