- BARBERA D'ALBA SUPERIORE VAJRA 2022 DESCRIPTION
- This Barbera d'Alba Superiore is indicated by the Vayra family as a "Barbera that Baroleggia". In fact, this is how the farmers of the past indicated the special Barberas, those that, after good aging, were able to present themselves with strength, body and vigor. And it is precisely thanks to a maturation of 22 months in wood that this label manages to confirm this expression, also thanks to the provenance of the grapes, grown within two of the most important crus that the winery can boast. A label with a beautiful aromatic strength, which expresses energy both on the nose and in the mouth.
- Barbera d'Alba Superiore is born from the use of pure Barbera grapes, grown within some of the best vineyards that Vajra owns. The vines of this variety are in fact grown in the Bricco delle Viole and Bricco Bertone crus, characterized by a subsoil mainly composed of marl and clay, with the presence of magnesium and manganese. The grapes, once harvested during the important harvest phase in October, ferment alcoholicly in steel while remaining in contact with the skins, macerating for a long period of about 35 days. The wine is then refined for 22 months in oak barrels and a few second passage barrels.
- This Barbera d'Alba Superiore presents itself, upon visual examination, with a ruby red color, very bright and inviting. On the nose, notes of ripe fruit are distinctly perceived, embellished with bois touches and tertiary nuances. On the palate, it has an excellent structure, with a deep sip, characterized by a pleasantly fresh vein and fine, subtle tannins. A bottle of personality, which aims to establish the most important products made by the Vajra winery, and which tells of the deep bond that unites the winery with the terroir of the Piedmontese Langhe.
