A new label for Bilancia but dont worry the quality is as good or even better than usual. Bilancia winemaker Warren Gibson is passionate about making Chardonnay and preaching its virtues. He has a huge depth of understanding of this greatest of all white grapes, and regularly talks of his Damascene moment when judging a wine show that made him want to change the way he made Chardonnay. This 2021 shows off his experience and the quality of vintage hugely, combining the purity of fruit that Hawke's Bay does so well with the seductive creaminess of malolactic ferment, judicious oak, and extended lees ageing. A gorgeously rich and textural Chardonnay, it should be at its best between now and 2027.
