- You can now admire real pandas in a Dutch zoo! On April 12, 2017, giant pandas Wu Wen and Xing Ya arrived at Schiphol. They had a long flight from China to the Netherlands behind them. After a short car ride, Wu Wen and Xing Ya were festively welcomed in Rhenen, where their new home Ouwehands Zoo is located. The two pandas were first given a few weeks of rest to get used to their enclosure. Since then, you can go and see the giant pandas Wu Wen and Xing Ya yourself as a visitor to Ouwehands Zoo.
- On May 1, 2020, there was an extra celebration at Ouwehands Zoo: giant panda Wu Wen had given birth to a cub! Mother and baby panda are doing well. Wu Wen and the little one will remain in the specially designed maternity den for the first few months. Here they have time to get used to each other and here the little panda cub can be cared for by its mother in a safe environment.
