An impressively smoky single malt from Cragganmore Distillery, released as part of the Special Release 2019 range. Even the owl on the label seems amazed by the unusually smoky character! Aged in American oak barrels for 12 years and bottled cask strength at 58.4 abv. On the nose lemon peel, pear, rhubarb framed by cream, leather, sandalwood and a hint of peat. Adding a little water will reveal a bouquet of ripe pineapple, caramel and hints of cardamom. In the mouth the intense presence of fruit, sweet spices, honey continues, while in the background notes of meat, salt, vanilla and black pepper are revealed. The aftertaste perfectly balanced, sweet and smoky with a slightly acidic and fruity sensation.
