• 2020 Domaine Borgeot Vieilles Vignes Chassagne-Montrachet
Chassagne-Montrachet, together with Meursault and Puligny-Montrachet, forms the heart of the Côte de Beaune, the valhalla of chardonnay. Domaine Borgeot is located in the village of Remigny on the Côte de Beaune. It was founded in 1903 and is now run by fourth generation brothers Laurent and Pascal Borgeot. All the fruit comes from vineyards within the Domaine family, located in the village of Remigny in the Côte d'Or. The total vineyard area is 23 hectares spread over the villages of Bourzeron, Santenay, Chassagne-Montrachet and Puligny-Montrachet. In the vineyard, the brothers Pascal and Laurent take a 'lutte raisonnee' approach, meaning that they do everything they can to respect the principles of organic farming and avoid the use of pesticides. The magic of Domaine Borgeot lies in the two people who make these charming wines. Pascal is calm, measured and brings an element of control over Laurent, who can't sit still for a minute. As the saying goes in Burgundy, looking at the person behind the wines gives you an idea of the style of wine in your glass. Domaine Borgeot wines show Pascal's calm restraint balanced with Laurent's exuberance and liveliness.
