• 2020 Domaine Latour-Giraud Pommard Cuvee Carmen
Jean Pierre Latour is a quiet man from Meursault, averse to standing and reputations. He makes beautiful wines (powerful white and refined red) that enjoy great international acclaim. Grapes have been grown at Domaine Latour-Giraud since 1680 and since 1848 in Meursault. Around 1980 the decision was made to bottle it ourselves and to stop supplying it to traders. It is still the trend for grape growers in Burgundy to start making their own wine. This is the reason that the traders themselves are buying more and more vineyards in order to maintain their position. The family business is now run by Jean-Pierre Latour, who is assisted by his sister Florence, among others. The domain has 10 hectares, of which 80% for white and 20% for black grapes. The Chardonnay vineyards are almost all located in Meursault in the commune appellation and premier cru. The blue grapes mainly grow in premier cru vineyards in Pommard (Refène), Volnay (Clos des Chênes). The company has great international recognition, such as up to 95 points from Robert Parker for one of the white wines.
