Telmo RodrÃguez is a versatile winemaker who owns vineyards throughout Spain that combine history, top terroir and quality. Fruit, relatively little wood influence and enormous drinkability characterize the wines of Telmo. The Pegaso Barrancos de Pizarra was produced with Garnacha from vines over 80 years old on slopes rich in slate. It fermented in oak and stainless steel barrels and amphorae with native yeasts and matured for 24 months in 500 and 600 liter French oak barrels. This wine has a very good price-quality ratio and belongs to the top series of the wine virtuoso Telmo Rodriques. It is a sultry red wine with hints of marmalade, melted dark chocolate and a hint of lavender. The taste is smooth and harmonious with dark cherries and bitter chocolate. It is underpinned by tight tannins and a masculine finish. The wine is understated but very impressive. Can develop for several more years.
